Bavarian Beef
4-6 servings
This is a tasty ground beef dish that reminds one of the
food you get in Germany.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (chuck)
¼ sliced red onion
Gravy:
1 cup cold water
1 tablespoon flour
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
Place the beef and onions in a non stick skillet
and fry until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are tender. Drain off the excess fat.
In a bowl combine the water with the flour and other
ingredients and mix well. Add to the pan
and bring to a boil while stirring from time to time. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for about 20
minutes.
Serve with German buttered noodles or mashed
potatoes.
Notes
You can substitute ground turkey for the beef and
adjust the seasonings to your taste.
