Swiss Mushroom Burgers

6 hamburgers

Tired of
regular, basic hamburgers?  Try this one
as a way to make different but flavorful burgers
Ingredients

1 ½ pounds ground chuck beef

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons of milk

¼ cup Panko bread crumbs

½ cup chopped onion

2 teaspoons mustard

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

¾ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Mushroom topping:

1 tablespoon butter

¼ teaspoon garlic clove, minced

8 ounces sliced mushrooms

6 thin slices of red onion

2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce

6 slices Swiss cheese

6 hamburger buns, toasted (optional)

Directions
Place the ground
beef in a large bowl and add the egg, milk, bread crumbs, onion, mustard,  salt,  pepper
and Worcestershire sauce.  Gently blend
the meat with the ingredients.  Mixing
too much can toughen the meat.  Form into
6 patties.  Create a slight indentation
in the middle with your thumb. This will help keep the burgers from puffing up
and becoming rounded instead of flat.

When ready to cook, grill the burgers on well-oiled grates if cooking
outside.  Otherwise cook on a grill pan
indoors that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray.  Cook until done to desired level. Do not
press down on the burgers! Top each burger with a slice of Swiss Cheese.  Briefly cover to melt the cheese. Toast buns if
desired.

While
the burgers are cooking, cook the mushrooms. Melt the butter in a skillet.  Add
the garlic, onion, and mushrooms.  Once
they are tender add the soy sauce and cook for a few minutes.  Keep warm until ready to put on the burgers.

Place
the burger with melted cheese on the bottom section of the bun and top with the
mushroom onion mixture.  Use your
preferred condiments on the burgers or none at all.

Note:

Adjust
the seasonings, if needed, to your preferences. If salt is a concern to you use unsalted butter.
