Basic Burgers

4 hamburgers

This is
a basic burger recipe that the whole family should enjoy.  Use your choice of toppings and condiments.
Ingredients

1 pound ground chuck

½ cup bread crumbs

1 egg, beaten

½ teaspoon salt

4 hamburger buns

Directions
Place the ground
beef in a large bowl and add the bread crumbs, egg and salt.  Gently blend the meat with the ingredients.  Mixing too much can toughen the meat.  Form into 4 patties.  Gently flatten and shape the patties and
create a very slight thumb indentation into them. This will help keep the
burgers from puffing up and becoming rounded instead of flat.

When ready to cook, grill the burgers on well-oiled grates if cooking
outside.  Otherwise cook on a grill pan
indoors that has been sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray.  Cook until done to desired level. Do not
press down on the burgers! Toast buns if desired. 

Use
your preferred condiment on the bun.  Add the burger and the following
toppings if preferred:

Onion slices, fried or raw

fried Bacon

slices of cheddar cheese

BBQ sauce

lettuce

sliced tomatoes

pickles

relish

sliced jalapeños 

Serve
immediately.

Note:

Adjust the
seasonings to your taste.
